Makeup Vixen 2

The makeup artist for the next (recently-concluded SS2013) show I'm drawing now was a very stylish Japanese woman with an almost 1960s-ish "Faster Pussycat, Kill Kill" look going on. She was quite a personality from the minute you saw her. I loved the shot I used as a reference for this drawing, because she was so tiny compared to the super tall male model they used to test hair and makeup. She was poised over him in her super-high heels applying foundation to his face with both her hands, and there was something very detached yet sensual about it...

Loving the direction this is going!

Detached yet sensual - perfect description of any work that brings people that close and hands-on with others. It has to be professional (detached), but at the same time, you have to know how to apply makeup (or medication or wet cloths or whatever) to skin that can be very sensitive. It's a moment of extreme trust for the person on the receiving end and great care for the person on the application end.

It's intimacy without attachment.
